You’ve talked about the problem, learned some coping skills and yet, something still triggers you. The anxiety keeps showing up, the patterns keep repeating. With all that self-understanding, you would think the problems might disappear.
But knowing is not the same thing as healing.
Why Traditional Therapy Sometimes Stalls
Traditional therapy works but often 50 minutes once a week is just not enough time to see lasting results.
Why EMDR Intensives Work Differently
Imagine stepping away from daily life long enough to fully focus on your healing.
Therapy Intensives are extended sessions designed to help you go deeper than traditional weekly therapy allows. Intensives create uninterrupted time for focused work, meaningful movement, and lasting change so you can process what’s keeping you stuck — without stopping every 50 minutes just as the work begins to deepen.
From 3-hour extended sessions to multi-day retreats, I offer therapy formats designed for people who are ready for deeper healing and lasting change.
Why Intensives Accelerate Healing
Standard therapy typically follows the managed care or insurance model for treatment and can be a barrier to progress. Insurance companies dictate to therapists:
Session Length
Session Frequency
Number of Sessions Per Year
These limitations can impact your progress.
Weekly therapy works well for many people. But for others, 50-minute sessions can feel limiting — especially when meaningful work is just beginning as time runs out.
If you’re interested in booking an Intensive, the first step is a 20-min consult for screening (Use the Request Appointment Button below).
Choose the Intensive Format That’s Right For You
Every client is different. During your consultation, we’ll determine which option fits your goals, schedule and treatment needs.
Option 1 - 3 Hour Intensive
The Extended Session
Sometimes the 50-minute hour isn't the problem. The problem is that just as the real work starts, time runs out.
A 3-hour intensive gives you a full, uninterrupted block to stay with the process. No clock-watching, no stopping mid-thought, no picking it back up next week and trying to remember where you were. We go in, we stay with it until the work is moving through towards a sense of transformation or completion.
This format works well as a standalone session or as a complement to ongoing weekly therapy when you're ready to move faster on something specific.
3-hour session: $750. Additional time available in 30-minute increments at $250/hour.
This is a good fit if you:
Are already in weekly therapy and want to accelerate work on a specific memory, pattern, or stuck point
Are working with an ongoing therapist but want adjunct work to address something you're having trouble getting to otherwise
Are curious about intensive work but want to try it before committing to a full retreat
Option 2 - EMDR Intensive Retreat:
Multi-Day Retreat at Shoofly Farm
This is the format for people who are done managing symptoms and ready to actually resolve them.
EMDR Intensive Retreats take place at Shoofly Farm, a private rural property outside Auburn, Alabama. You'll have your own cabin, no commute, no responsibilities, and nothing pulling your attention away from the work. Farm-fresh breakfast delivered to your door every morning. A special lunch during your midday break. Chair yoga on the wrap-around porch Thursday mornings if you want to participate. The farm staff are warm, attentive, and quietly make everything run so you don't have to think about a thing.
That setting isn't just a nice perk. It's doing clinical work. Most people try to heal while staying fully embedded in the same environment that reinforces their patterns. Shoofly removes that variable. You step out of your regular life and into a space that has no associations, no interruptions, and no version of you that needs to perform or manage anything.
Six hours of therapy each day. Sessions run on consecutive days or every other day depending on what fits your treatment needs. We'll figure out the right structure during your consultation.
$1,400 per weekday. $1,600 per weekend day.
This is a good fit if you:
Are traveling from out of the area and want to make the most of your time here
Have complex or longstanding trauma and feel like weekly therapy keeps pointing to the same patterns
Have been in therapy for years, have real insight, and are frustrated that things haven't fully shifted
Want an experience that feels like a retreat and works like serious therapy, because it's both
Option 3 - Online Intensives:
Virtual Intensive, Anywhere You Are
Everything that makes an intensive work, without the travel to Alabama.
Online intensives follow the same extended format as in-person sessions, delivered via telehealth from your home. while some clients do these from home, the most interesting use of this format is something most people haven't considered: building your intensive into a trip you were already planning.
Think about what you've already solved when you book a vacation. You've cleared your schedule. You've arranged coverage for work, kids, pets, whatever usually makes "taking time for yourself" feel impossible. You've already decided you're worth the investment of time and money. The hardest logistical barriers to doing an intensive are handled before you ever open your laptop.
Now imagine spending two or three of those days doing focused EMDR work from a beach house in Florida, or a villa somewhere you've always wanted to go. Your nervous system is already slightly outside its habitual patterns because you're somewhere new. The distance from your daily environment, your triggers, your routines, is doing real clinical work before the session even starts. And when the intensive days are done, you still have the rest of your trip. Except now you're resting in a way that might actually feel like rest, because something that's been running in the background for years finally got addressed.
This isn't just a workaround for people who can't make it to Auburn. It's a unique option with its own logic, and for the right person it's remarkably effective.
Available to clients in Alabama, Florida, and many international locations. Rates are the same as in-person.
$750 for a 3-hour session. $1,400 per weekday/$1,600 per weekend day for multi-day formats.
This is a good fit if you:
Are outside Auburn, Alabama but want intensive EMDR work without the logistics of traveling here
Are an existing weekly client who wants to add an intensive block without coming in person
Are already planning a trip and want to build something genuinely transformative into it, not just restorative
Live internationally and are looking for an EMDRIA-trained therapist who can work with you in an extended format
Want the distance and novelty of a new environment working in your favor before the session even begins
